Goat Willow – Salix caprea

Goat Willow (Salix caprea) makes an excellent, fast-growing (20-40cm/year) native deciduous hedge. A hardy plant, it prefers wet or heavy soils, but can cope with drier exposed sites. Iconic silver and gold  catkins in spring. It provides support for many insects. Can be kept trimmed at 1-5m.
