Elaeagnus ebbingei “Limelight” (Silverberry or Oleaster)

A large, dense, rounded evergreen shrub with broad, leathery, dark or metallic sea-green leaves, silvery scaly beneath, and small, fragrant white flowers in autumn. Oleaster ‘Limelight’ and “Gilt Edge” are varieties which have green and yellow variegated foliage which creates a colourful display. Ideal for hedges, Elaeagnus grows to 1-4m in height at a rate of 20-40cm per year. It will grow in any normal or dry soil, in partial shade or sunny conditions,  with coastal  and inland exposure. Avoid wet sites.
